The Difference between PET Film and APET Film

PET film and APET film are both environmentally friendly and biodegradable polyester film materials, which are some differences in properties and applications.

1.    Material difference

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) film is a linear thermoplastic polyester with high mechanical strength and heat resistance.

APET (polymethyl terephthalate) film is an acrylic emulsion introduced on the basis of PET, which improves its processing performance and transparency.

2.    Process difference

The main working process of PET film is melt extrusion and stretching.

APET film requires additional co-extrusion or coating process on the basis of PET film to achieve the introduction of acrylate.

Comparing with PET film, APET film has higher transparency, better heat sealing and processing performance. Meanwhile, the surface tension of APET film is greater, which is conducive to the adhesion of ink and adhesive.

The Difference between PET Film and APET Film

PET film has high tensile , tear resistance and heat resistance, is widely used in packaging, electronics, optics which request to withstand a certain external force. While APET film is suitable for food packaging, blister trays, display racks due to high transparency, good heat sealing and processing properties.
